College of Health and Human Performance records, 1917-1995.

General Correspondence documents the administration and activities of the director's office. Intramural Sports Records consist of participation rosters, schedules, results, and other documentation. Curriculum Development consists of correspondence and reports related to the degree programs offered by the College and proposed changes and additions to the overall curriculum. Series IV consists largely of meeting minutes from various College committees and records of student clubs, including the honorary societies for women (Delta Psi Kappa) and men (Sigma Delta Psi) in physcial education. This series also contains scrapbooks from the Physical Education Club and the Women's Recreation Association. Series V includes guidelines for student teachers and secretarial staff, program and college title changes, departmental goals and objectives, biennial reports, and equipment budgets. Series VI pertains to remodeling in Langton Hall, the Women's Building, and various recreational facilities. The Special Event files consist of brochures, correspondence, and memoranda of dedications for building restorations and facility additions, in particular the Women's Building.

Langton, Clair Van Norman, 1895-1973

Clair Van Norman Langton was born on November 1, 1895 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Margaret and Robert Langton, and grew up in Michigan. He served with the U.S. Army in El Paso along the Mexican border in 1916 and 1917, and in Europe in 1918 and 1919. From 1922 through 1928 he was captain of the Michigan National Guard Signal Corps. In 1923 he received a B.S. in Education from the University of Michigan. He received a M.S. in Public Health and Hygiene in 1925 and a Doctorate in Public Health ...
